Because of losing Free Agents Randall Gay, Assante Samuel and Donte Stallworth, the Patriots have earned 3 compensatory draft picks. The picks are a 3rd Rounder (97), 5th Rounder (170) and 6th Rounder (207). The 97th overall pick is because of Assante Samuel and is the highest possible pick that any team was award for compensation.
The Patriots now own 6 picks in the first 3 rounds and a total of 11 picks in the draft.
Look for the Patriots to do some wheeling and dealing especially in the second round where they own 3 picks. I see the Patriots trading one of their seconds this year for a future second plus another pick.
With 6 picks in the first 3 rounds I look for the Pats to get a lot younger and faster on the defensive side of the ball along with getting some depth for the offensive line.
